Wikipedia defines business networking as "a socioeconomic activity by which groups of like-minded businesspeople recognise, create, or act upon business opportunities".  It continues to say that a business network is a type of social network whose reason for existence is business activity.

Networking is so much more than circulating a room and/or handing out business cards.  It's a skill that is essential in today's business world.
